Knowledge is Not Power Without Application

Thanks to the Internet, there’s no shortage of self-help advice and tips promising to turbo-charge your life. You can step right up and feast on a buffet of books, blogs, articles, seminars, and podcasts to help you tap into your best self. It can be both intoxicating and overwhelming.

I’ll admit I’ve savored my share of self-help content in the pursuit of perfecting my own life. I wanted to be better, do better, and live better. At least that’s what I thought but the strange thing was the more I consumed all this content the more overwhelmed I felt.

Where should I start first? Will this really work for me? Question after question break danced around in my head because me being me — I tend to overthink this kind of stuff.

Want to know a secret though? Knowledge is not power without application. I don’t care how many books you read and podcasts you listen to, if you’re not actually applying what you’re learning, you’re wasting your time and money. The secret to true transformation is application.

Let me tell you another secret, application is not always sexy because real change can be hard and uncomfortable no matter how much we declare we want it. Change is work and sometimes it’s easier to just continue hoarding mountains of self-help information…
