Let’s Talk About the Joy of Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Two things I love about this time of year are fall and the influx of all things pumpkin spice. The smell of all that spicy ginger cinnamon orangey nutmeg clove goodness is intoxicating and I enjoy the madness. The joy of pumpkin spice should be talked about way more.

Bring on the candles, fancy lotions, drinks, candy, cookies, cakes, coffee, tea, pasta (yes, there is such a thing) and snacks galore. Sometimes it can get a wee bit out of hand though. Everything was not meant to be pumpkin spiced flavored (looking at you SPAM).

Full transparency, the taste of pumpkin spice itself is alright. I enjoy a few treats and I’m satisfied for the rest of the year. I rarely crave the taste of it outside of October and November. I just adore all the fanfare that comes with it.

Pumpkin spice reminds me of stillness, comfort, and nostalgia like watching Peanuts cartoons (shout out to Franklin) and roasting marshmallows around somebody’s bonfire.

It signals that fall is here even if it’s still 80 degrees outside (hello global warming). It’s a time to slow down, snuggle in and savor everything nice about this spicy little season.
